Read Scripture

Android & iOS

Read Scripture is an app produced by Crazy Love Ministries in association with The Bible Project. This is one of the best Bible reading apps I have ever used that deserves more recognition in my opinion. What makes this app unique is that it takes you throughout the entire Bible accompanied by videos from the Bible Project. It is broken down into daily portions containing Psalm chapters. This reading plan takes you from Genesis to Revelation and twice through Psalms. To supplement your readings, there are Bible Project videos related to the daily portions. It’s very easy to track your progress and you can set the app to send you reminders. If you don’t know what The Bible Project is, check it out here and you’ll understand why so many love it.

Bible Maps by Yuku

Android

No Bible study is complete without maps. Having a visual of the places where all the Biblical events took place helps understand Scripture better. And I have found no better app for that than this one. It has search capabilities that allow you to look up any place mentioned in Scripture and find it. And what’s more, all the maps are completely free as most Bible map apps charge you for certain maps. However, you will only find this app if you have Android.

Scripture Typer

Android, iOS & Fire

This is a great app for Scripture memorization. You can easily track your progress. You chose the verses you want to memorize with flashcards and typing exercises. The app gives you much control over how long you want to practice the verses until testing yourself.

Bible.is

Android, iOS & Fire

I’m sure you’ve seen this app if you don’t have it on your phone already. This app contains the BEST narrations than any other Bible app around.

Features:

  • Bible narration in over 1,800 languages!
  • Many Bible Versions
  • Great for sharing with those who can’t read

Sermon Audio

Android, iOS & Fire

This is a favorite Sermon podcaster. It contains thousands of podcasts from hundreds, if not thousands of preachers. It’s available in many languages. You have the option of streaming or downloading the podcasts for listening on the go. The files are available in mp3 or mp4 format. Sermon Audio contains sermons from prominent preachers from now and the past like Francis Chan, David Jeremiah, Greg Laurie, A.W. Tozer, and many more.

The Gospel Coalition

Android & iOS

This is the app for the TGC Ministry. It contains theological essays, articles, and blog posts from any topic you can think of. Written by respected ministers, the content in this app is invaluable to your Bible Study. It’s good and beneficial to contrast opinions on gospel topics as a supplement to regular Bible Study. I wouldn’t have added this app to the list if I didn’t trust the teachings here. There are also videos of conferences that are very helpful. Contributors to this ministry included: John Piper, Kevin DeYoung, Matt Chandler, Alistair Begg, Mark Driscoll, and many more.

Got Questions?

Android & iOS

Another great app to look at for differing points of view is Got Questions. I have been using this site for several years and it’s nice to have an app on your phone for it. Got Questions answers the most pressing questions you may have on Scripture, topics, and doctrines. You can submit your answers to them and receive a prompt reply through email. If your question hasn’t been asked, it gets posted on the app along with the answer. There are thousands of answers that you can read from. You may find that you don’t agree with some answers but as stated earlier, it is beneficial to hear different points of view sometimes.

And this concludes the top 15 apps I recommend for Bible Study. Which ones do you use? Did I miss any good ones? Comment down below!
