My Favorite Bible Study Tools & Resources

To study the Bible all we need is a Bible. Plain and simple. Nothing else is necessary in order to get a full grasp on the Scriptures. However, it is nice and beneficial to have tools and resources to help us dig deeper into the Word. There are a plethora of tools, products, and resources out there for Bible study…no seriously, like a TON. The amount of Bible study items lining store shelves and Amazon is overwhelming at times. This is why I prefer to keep my personal Bible study time as simple as possible.

For this reason, I don’t use Bible study guides because for one, I’m horrible at keeping up with them and two, they overwhelm me. Studying the Bible shouldn’t be overwhelming that’s why I like to use items that facilitate and add to the enjoyment of studying the Scriptures for myself. I do not use a whole lot of items but those I do use, I’m very loyal to their usage. With that, I’d like to share my favorite Bible study tools and resources. (I will try to link the best prices underneath each item, when possible. Take into account that the prices will most likely fluctuate since the writing of this post).

My Favorite Bible Study Tools & Resources

Bibles

For an in-depth Bible study, I like to use an actual study Bible. I wrote a specific post on Study Bibles, you can check it out here:

Read  The Best Study Bibles of All Time

But most study Bibles do not have enough space on the pages for writing notes, that’s why I like to use a journaling Bible. I use this Bible strictly for note-taking, not for drawing, painting, or decorating. This is the one I have and I LOVE it!

KJV Journal the Word Bible

There are many, many journaling Bibles but I like this one because the pages are made from a creamy, high-quality paper. There are lines which are barely visible on the margins so as not to be too distracting and there is ample space for writing. Christ’s words are in red and the font is big enough. It is available in several translations, cover material, and cover designs. And let’s admit it, the cover is very pretty!

The Interlinear Hebrew-Greek English Bible

If you don’t already own an interlinear Bible, I recommend this one. This Bible is very helpful in understanding the Bible in its original language. I’m currently learning Biblical Hebrew and Greek and the value of this Interlinear Bible is incalculable! If you don’t know what an interlinear Bible is, it’s a Bible written in the original Hebrew and Greek with the English translation on the side. It’s very easy to follow along with. I love this Bible and highly recommend, especially if you’re studying Biblical languages.

I own the 4 volume set and would recommend it over the 1 volume because it’s less bulky and the print is bigger. If you want to study a certain book you can just pull out the volume and carry it with you instead of dragging the enormous 1 volume. I read reviews on the 1 volume edition and most reviewers complained that the print was too small.

Websites/Apps

Even though there are hundreds of online resources for Bible study, I find myself returning to the same ones over and over:

Bible Gateway

Blue Letter Bible

Hebrew4Christians.com

I discuss the Bible Gateway and Blue Letter Bible apps in my “15 Helpful Bible Study Apps” post, go check it out if you’re interested. I love how many different tools both of these websites offer besides Bibles.

Hebrew for Christians is an amazing free resource for those wanting to learn basic Biblical Hebrew. The articles are super helpful in trying to understand the Jewishness of the Bible. You learn the right context of Scripture in order to apply it correctly into daily life. So I highly recommend this website.

Bible Study Helps

No Bible study library is complete without Strong’s concordance and the classic Vine’s dictionary. I know most of you are familiar with these and probably own them but I had to include them on here.

Although I’m not big on commentaries, whenever I’m curious to read man’s rendering over certain verses, I quite enjoy Matthew Henry’s Commentary. It’s very easy to understand, he gets right to the point, and it’s very complete.

Charts, Maps, and More

Out of all my Bible study tools; charts and maps have to be my favorite. They are simple, easy to follow, super helpful, and fun to look at. Who doesn’t appreciate pictures right? Rose Publishing comes to mind when I think about charts. Seriously, you have to look up their products if you’re not familiar with this company. They have foldable pamphlets on any Biblical topic you can think of: timelines, maps, the Tabernacle, Biblical feasts, armor of God, denominations, prophecies, the 12 tribes, Kings and prophets, names of God…the list is endless. They also have big spiral books with a compilation of all their pamphlets plus more.

Stationery

Finally! The best part of the post, stationery. If you’ve followed TSP long enough you’ll know how much I LOVE stationery. I own my fair share of notebooks, pens, sticky notes, highlighters, you name it, so I know a thing or two about the best products out there. I’ve tried MANY pens and markers and have finally settled with what works best for me. I’ve learned that expensive doesn’t necessarily mean better. I find that less expensive products are actually pretty good quality, sometimes even better than the more expensive ones. These are the pens and highlighters that have worked wonderfully for me.

Notebooks & Journals

There are so many types of notebooks, it’s impossible for me to go through all of the ones I use and/or have used so I will name just a few companies I absolutely love which make beautiful and high-quality products. Markings by C.R. Gibson is probably my all-time favorite notebook company. Not only are their notebooks very pretty but the paper and binding quality are superb! The prices are also very affordable. I have been buying their products for years and the notebooks have held up quite nicely. You can find their products on their website which I linked above, Amazon, and also at Walmart.

Another great company is Christian Art Gifts. They have many different products but I especially like their journals. The notebooks come in many types of covers, spines, paper, and sizes. You can find the cheapest prices on Amazon, Marshall’s, Burlington, and others.
